About the work
A woman stands at the foot of a sweeping staircase. Her pale dress flows across the lower steps, while the balustrades draw the eye towards an open, luminous space. Above her, a stone arch frames a sky of gold and soft grey.
The staircase offers a direction without revealing where it ends. Its upper curve disappears into the light. Between the weight of the architecture and the openness beyond it, the painting holds a moment of departure: the way forward is visible, even while what awaits remains unknown.
Within Lilith’s Story
Journey into the Unknown belongs to The Present, the second series of Lilith’s Story. The staircase returns as a central motif, now within a more open, luminous setting.
Shown alongside The Staircase of Decision, the work creates a dialogue between two spaces: an enclosed interior and a threshold opening towards light.
