Between control and surrender lies the fall. Inward.
About the work
A woman is suspended upside down within a vaulted passage. Golden fabric opens around her body, filling much of the composition. To the left, a wave rises beyond the arches; below, dark water occupies the space where a floor might be expected.
Architecture gives the scene a structure, while water and fabric unsettle it. The inverted figure offers no fixed orientation. Whether she is falling, floating or surrendering remains open, holding the painting at a threshold between control and release.
Within Lilith’s Story
The Border of Consciousness belongs to The Past, the first series of Lilith’s Story. The body, the enclosed space and the water become elements of an inner landscape.
The work leaves the moment unresolved. Its title places that uncertainty at the border between what can be consciously held and what lies beyond it.
